The apparatus consists of a water storage cylinder, a specimen‑connection sealing assembly, an overflow trough, a graduated cylinder, and other components. An overflow pipe is installed on the side wall at a specific height between the overflow trough and the water storage cylinder, while the bottom of the storage cylinder is fitted with a detachable specimen‑connection sealing assembly, facilitating easy installation and removal of test specimens.

Pavement texture depth is an indicator that characterizes pavement roughness. Traditionally in China, the manual sand‑filling method has been used to measure this parameter; although straightforward, it suffers from significant human error and lacks standardized operating procedures, making it inadequate for the testing needs of domestic road authorities. This instrument is a new product jointly developed by our factory and the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport.
