Pavement texture depth is an indicator that characterizes pavement roughness. Traditionally in China, the manual sand‑filling method has been used to measure this parameter; although straightforward, it suffers from significant human error and lacks standardized operating procedures, making it inadequate for the testing needs of domestic road authorities. This instrument is a new product jointly developed by our factory and the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. Building on the Japanese electric roughness meter introduced by the Ministry, we addressed numerous shortcomings based on China’s specific conditions, producing the country’s first domestically manufactured prototype. In December 1992, the Ministry of Transport organized relevant agencies to conduct field tests and verifications, comparing this instrument under identical conditions with both the Japanese electric roughness meter and the manual sand‑filling method. The results demonstrated that our electric sand‑filling roughness meter is simple to operate, convenient to use, and eliminates human‑induced errors, making it an ideal device for assessing pavement macroscopic roughness and skid resistance.

Product Introduction:

Pavement texture depth is an indicator that characterizes pavement roughness. Traditionally in China, the manual sand‑filling method has been used to measure texture depth; although this approach is simple, it suffers from significant human error and lacks standardized operating procedures, making it inadequate for the testing needs of domestic road authorities. This instrument is a new product jointly developed by our factory and the Highway Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. Building on the Japanese electric roughness meter introduced by the Ministry, we addressed numerous shortcomings based on China’s specific conditions and produced the country’s first domestically manufactured prototype. In December 1992, the Ministry of Transport organized relevant agencies to conduct field tests and verifications, comparing this instrument with both the Japanese electric roughness meter and the manual sand‑filling method under identical conditions. The results demonstrated that our electric sand‑filling roughness meter is easy to operate, convenient to use, and eliminates human‑induced errors, making it an ideal device for assessing pavement macroscopic roughness and skid resistance.

What kinds of pipes fit your ring stiffness tester? Can it do long-term creep testing?

This equipment is designed for HDPE, PVC corrugated pipes, plastic drainage pipes and various plastic tubular products. Apart from ring stiffness, ring flexibility and flattening tests, it supports continuous long-term creep tests up to 1000 hours (42 days) as required by industry specifications, widely used for pipe factories and construction quality inspection institutes.
