Description

Product Introduction:

This method is applicable to plastic bottle caps conforming to the relevant standard. A puncture fixture is used to apply pressure to bottle samples, creating an internal–external pressure differential in the sample immersed in water. The release of gas from the sample is observed to assess its sealing performance.

Reference standard:

GB/17876, ASTM F1140, ASTM F2054, ISO 11607, GB 18454, GB/T 1004, GB/T 1005, GB 19741, BB/T 0003, QB/T 1871.

Test principle:

  1. Leak Test: After reaching the set pressure, maintain that pressure without replenishing it. If the pressure drop during the hold period exceeds the specified threshold, the sample is deemed non‑conforming; if the pressure drop remains within the threshold, the sample is deemed conforming.
  2. Burst test: Once the pressure reaches the threshold, the burst‑detection phase begins. The test is stopped when the pressure drops to within a specified percentage of the maximum pressure; the system then automatically releases the air. During this process, the screen displays the recorded maximum pressure value. Pressure is regulated via the pressure‑adjustment valve on the side of the device; it is recommended to increase the pressure gradually to prevent rapid pressurization, which could lead to uneven pressure between the sensor and the sample interior and introduce measurement errors.
  3. Pressure Holding/Creep: Once the set pressure is reached, pressure holding begins. During the holding phase, if the pressure drops to (1 − accuracy%) of the set value, a pressure‑boosting step is performed to maintain the target pressure. If, during the holding phase, the pressure decline reaches the predefined threshold, the specimen is deemed to have ruptured, the test is terminated, and the specimen is classified as non‑conforming.
  4. Creep to burst: After reaching the set pressure, maintain constant pressure. During the hold phase, if the pressure drops to (1 − accuracy%) of the set value, a pressure‑boosting step is performed to sustain the pressure. If, during the hold phase, the pressure decline reaches the predefined threshold, the test is deemed to have reached the sample’s burst point; pressure holding is then discontinued, timing stops, and the timer is not reset.
  5. Large‑scale leakage: Use a dedicated clamping fixture to press the bag underwater, inflate the test bag to a specified pressure, and visually inspect for leaks. The test duration is manually controlled and can be stopped by pressing the stop button.

Product Features:

  1. Button controls make operation simpler and data results more intuitive.
  2. The test barrel is made of highly transparent acrylic, making it sturdy and durable.
  3. Specialized plastic bottle cap puncturing fixture, ensuring no air leakage.
  4. One-click operation: automatically start the test with a single click, automatically terminate the experiment, and automatically release pressure.
  5. It features a sample library with preset test parameters; includes a product test‑result labeling function that allows historical test data to be retained; and provides graphical curves for more intuitive data visualization.
  6. 7-inch large display, supporting user permission management, Chinese–English language switching, data storage, and audit trail (optional)

 Test parameters

Trial Name: You can enter the sample product name.

Unit Selection: This instrument supports four unit options: kPa, MPa, bar, and psi.

Test pressure: The specified test pressure is maintained within the tolerance range of the set value.

Test time: The specified test duration, in seconds; maximum value: 9,999,999 seconds, approximately 2,770 hours.

Threshold: Similarly, to prevent false judgments caused by pressure fluctuations, a minimum burst pressure threshold is set for the specimen; only pressure variations exceeding this threshold are deemed valid bursts.

Holding time: Pressure hold time, in seconds (s), with a maximum of 9,999,999 s, equivalent to approximately 2,770 hours.

Sensitivity: Only when the percentage change in pressure exceeds this set threshold is the burst test considered valid; this threshold should be appropriately configured to avoid false judgments caused by pressure fluctuations.

3 Historical Data:

Click “Historical Data” to access the historical data query interface.

After the user is created, click the dialog box in the permissions list to select and grant the corresponding permissions.

Test steps:

  1. Connect the specimen to the fixture and place it inside the sealed container; then close the container lid.
  2. Connect the power supply and turn on the switch located on the right rear side of the instrument to power up the device.
  3. Enter the “Test Plan” and set the test parameters according to the experimental requirements.
  4. After completing the settings, press Return to Home to enter the “Test Home Page.”

Explanation:

1. Due to the small cavity of the test fixture, gradually increase the flow valve setting to control the rate of pressure rise and prevent pressure overshoot.

2. The instrument automatically controls the pressure and holding time of the test fixture, subjecting the bottle cap to the specified pressure resistance. The user carefully observes whether continuous bubbles emerge at the sealing area of the cap to determine whether the test is合格 (qualified).
