Description
Product Introduction:
The Barcol hardness tester (Barcol indenter) is an indentation-type hardness tester. It offers rapid, simple testing—simply apply pressure—and is used to quickly measure the hardness of aluminum and aluminum alloy materials, in accordance with the U.S. standard ASTM B648.
Purpose:
The Barcol hardness tester is primarily used to measure the hardness of aluminum and aluminum alloys, but it can also assess the hardness of other soft metals and fiberglass‑reinforced plastic products. It is capable of testing extremely large, wide, or thick workpieces and assemblies, including plates, strips, profiles, forgings, and castings. The W‑20 Barcol hardness tester, widely employed in the aluminum processing industry, is suitable for most aluminum alloys. For ultra‑hard aluminum alloys such as 2024 and 7075, either the W‑B75 Barcol hardness tester or a Barcol hardness tester may be used. For pure aluminum, low‑hardness aluminum alloys, exceptionally thick aluminum alloys, and other aluminum components where the Barcol test is impractical, a Barcol hardness tester should be utilized. Generally, the Barcol hardness tester serves as a complementary tool to the Barcol scale, particularly when testing pure aluminum, low‑hardness aluminum alloys, and very large or thick materials.
Product advantages:
Compact size and lightweight (510 g), making it easy to carry.
Operates with one hand, requires no prior experience, and can be used in any setting—simply reach within arm’s length to perform a test.
The testing range is broad. It can accommodate materials ranging from very soft pure aluminum to exceptionally hard aluminum alloys, with an effective measurement span equivalent to a Brinell hardness of 25–135 HB.
High sensitivity. The Vickers hardness tester has only 20 scale divisions, whereas the Barcol hardness tester boasts 100 divisions, offering superior sensitivity.
The Barcol hardness tester performs measurements on only one side of the specimen, requiring no support, and is well suited for testing extremely large and thick workpieces as well as assembled components.
Conversion is convenient. Using the conversion table, you can obtain hardness values such as Brinell, Rockwell, Vickers, and Webster.
