Product Introduction

The Type 425 C‑light‑source colorimeter consists of an illumination unit equipped with a CIE‑standard light source C and 18 test tubes, each labeled with a specific color number. During testing, the sample to be evaluated is placed in one of the instrument’s glass tubes, and its color is visually compared, under the standard illumination, with the colored reference tubes of varying numbers. The color most closely matching the sample is identified, and the result is expressed as a Hunter‑L*a*b* color number.

This instrument complies with the national standard GB/T 9281-2008, “Colorimetric Assessment of the Color of Transparent Liquids Used in Paints and Varnishes—Gardner Color Scale,” and the international standard ISO 4630‑1:2004. It is used to evaluate the color of yellow or brown transparent liquids and is suitable for drying oils, varnishes, and fatty acid solutions, as well as polymeric fatty acids, resins, tall oil, tall oil fatty acids, rosin, and related products.

Technical Specifications:

1. Work Standard: The color standards for 18 liquid samples are prepared in strict accordance with the requirements of the international standard ISO 4630.

2. Glass test tube: A colorless, transparent cylindrical vessel with an inner diameter of 10.65 ± 0.025 mm, an outer diameter of approximately 12.5 mm, and a wall length of about 114 mm.

3. The spectral power distribution of the light source is similar to that of the CIE standard illuminant C, and the light passes laterally through the working standard and the sample.

4. The surrounding environment is neutral in color, and both working standards and one test sample are within the field of view.
