Description

Product Introduction:

Specimens for metallographic and petrographic analysis that are small, difficult to hold by hand, or irregular in shape are mounted. After mounting, the specimens can be easily ground and polished, and they are also better suited for accurately observing the desired microstructure under a metallographic microscope and for measuring material hardness on a hardness tester.

Product Features:

  1. An innovative integrated heating–cooling design reduces the sample mounting time to just 6 minutes, significantly enhancing operational efficiency.

  2. Research was conducted on the development of a cyclic jog‑pressure control system, associated methods, and specimen‑preparation techniques, enabling controlled and sustained pressure during mounting to enhance both the quality and hardness of mounted specimens.

  3. Furthermore, an innovative pressure‑maintaining circuit has been employed to effectively expel residual air from the material, ensuring a uniform microstructure in the mounted specimen and preventing bubble formation caused by trapped air, thereby yielding a smooth specimen surface.

  4. Our team also conducted an in-depth study of equipment safety and developed a fixing device for the embedding machine, effectively mitigating the risk of injury caused by the upper cover springing open during specimen removal.

  5. The microtome’s CNC system provides 10 user‑definable preparation protocols, accommodating a wide range of embedding requirements.

  6. This machine sheds the traditional image of bulky, clunky inlay equipment, featuring a brand‑new ABS‑material casing with a fresh, refined color scheme and sleek design, delivering a comfortable user experience—far from being just another cold, impersonal device.

  7. The Lbt-ZX-5S automatic metallographic specimen mounting machine (imperial‑style dual‑station) employs a central mold with a thickness of up to 15 mm, enabling simultaneous mounting of two specimens at one station while delivering equally excellent results.

  8. During actual sample preparation, different pressures are required to accommodate various thermosetting mounting materials. The Ixiang5 automatic mounting machine can precisely control the pressure according to specific needs, with an adjustable range of 1–20 MPa.

  9. The Lbt-ZX-5S automatic metallographic specimen mounting machine (imperial‑style dual‑station) features a large‑size capacitive touchscreen that delivers excellent display performance.

I. What is Metallographic Specimen Mounting?

Metallographic examination occupies a pivotal position in the field of materials analysis, and the success of metallographic sample preparation directly determines the reliability of the results. For many specimens, direct cutting, grinding, or polishing presents significant challenges; mounting serves as a process that addresses these issues while enhancing both efficiency and analytical accuracy.

II. Which samples require mounting?

1. Small mechanical components, such as specimens with complex yet extremely fine geometries, or tiny electronic components.

2. Specimens requiring preservation of the decarburized layer microstructure on the workpiece surface, as well as depth measurement.

3. Specimens for determining the microstructure and depth of surface diffusion coatings and coating layers.

III. Drawbacks of Metallographic Sample Mounting Machines Currently Available on the Market

1. Traditional manual metallographic specimen mounting machines are complex to operate, lack water-cooling functionality, and require on-site supervision by laboratory personnel.

2. The heating and cooling systems of some automatic mounting machines are poorly designed, often resulting in sample preparation times exceeding 15 minutes.

3. Without a sample preparation database, different mounting schemes rely on the experimenter’s expertise.

4. Cast‑aluminum or sheet‑metal enclosures are bulky, unattractive, and prone to rusting.

5. Each workstation can only perform the mounting of a single specimen.

6. The mounting pressure is fixed and cannot accommodate the use of various thermosetting mounting compounds.

7. Outdated display technology.
