In the preparation of metallographic specimens, grinding is an indispensable step. Typically, specimen grinding consists of two stages: rough grinding and fine grinding. The purpose of rough grinding is to produce a relatively flat surface, usually carried out on a grinding wheel machine; however, deep scratches still remain on the specimen’s surface. Fine grinding aims to eliminate these scratches, yielding a smooth, even ground surface that is well‑suited for subsequent polishing. The M‑2 metallographic specimen pre‑grinding machine is designed for fine grinding and features a dual‑disc configuration, allowing two operators to work simultaneously. Its housing is manufactured using integral thermoforming technology, giving it a modern appearance. The machine offers stable rotation, low noise, convenient operation, and high efficiency, and it is equipped with an integrated cooling system that cools the specimen during grinding and polishing, thereby preventing overheating and potential damage to the microstructure.
