Non-contact scanning methods have been extensively studied due to their high efficiency and broad applicability, and they have addressed several limitations of contact-based scanning, leading to increasingly widespread adoption in the field of reverse engineering.
Non-contact scanning is commonly achieved through optical scanning, yielding point‑cloud data of the scanned object. In this approach, the scanner head does not physically touch the object being scanned, thereby avoiding deformation that could affect the measurement results.
