Description

Product Introduction:

The LS200 glass thickness gauge is specifically designed to measure the thickness of single‑pane glass, laminated glass (insulated glass), and cylindrical glass tubes. It is particularly well suited for applications where conventional rulers or calipers are impractical or difficult to use, such as measuring the wall thickness of glass bottles and the thickness of architectural insulated glass units. For insulated glass, it can simultaneously determine the thickness of each pane as well as that of the intervening air gap.

Features of the LS200 Glass Thickness Gauge

  1. Laser reflection principle, single-sided measurement.
  2. Insulated glass , while simultaneously measuring the thickness of the air gap and the glass.

3. Wide measurement range: glass thickness 70 mm, air gap 34 mm.

4. Features include simple and convenient operation, rapid measurement, lightweight portability, and energy efficiency and environmental friendliness.

5. Suitable for applications such as quality inspection, supervision, education, manufacturing, sales, and construction projects.

Instructions:

This instrument is designed based on the principle of laser reflection from glass, and it employs an imported high‑quality laser diode as its light source. The laser’s…

The characteristics of high brightness, high directivity, high monochromaticity, and high coherence ensure high measurement accuracy.

When using the device, hold each end of the instrument firmly with both hands, press the LS200 tightly and evenly against the surface of the glass being measured, and then use your right index finger to press the “power switch.” The laser beam reflected from the upper and lower surfaces of the glass on the back of the instrument forms light bars on the scale. Light bars

The difference indicated on the glass thickness scale represents the glass thickness.

Measurement Results for Different Types of Glass

Two light beams are visible through single-layer glass.

The double-glazed glass reveals four beams of light.

Three-layer glass reveals six light rays; multi-layer glass follows the same principle.

Below is an example illustrating how the instrument measures the thickness of the glass and the air gap in insulated glass units. Place the glass thickness gauge on the surface of the insulated glass, press and hold the power switch; four light beams will appear, with the D‑beam already calibrated at the factory.

When aligned with the zero mark, the reading of light bar C on the “Glass Thickness Scale” corresponds to the thickness of the first-layer glass. The thickness of the second-layer glass is obtained by subtracting the reading of light bar B from that of light bar A on the “Glass Thickness Scale”; specifically, A = 30 mm, B = 25 mm, C = 5 mm, and D = 0 mm. Thus, the thickness of the first-layer glass is C – D = 5 mm, and the thickness of the second-layer glass is A – B = 5 mm.

On the “Air Space Thickness Scale,” the thickness of the air layer is obtained by subtracting the reading of light bar C from that of light bar B: B = 12 mm, C = 2.4 mm; thus, the thickness of the intermediate air layer is B – C = 9.6 mm.
