Product Introduction:
The Fourier‑transform infrared spectrometer at the Beifen Rayleigh Laboratory can perform spectral measurements of the emissivity of hollow architectural glass (double‑glazed with one air cavity, or triple‑glazed with two air cavities) within 5 minutes, and, using dedicated software, directly calculate the thermal transmittance.
Test principle:
When radiant energy strikes the surface of an object, three processes occur: absorption, transmission, and reflection. Since glass exhibits zero transmittance above 4.5 μm, at thermal equilibrium its emissivity can be inferred by measuring its reflectance; the heat transfer coefficient can then be calculated from this emissivity.
Test Method
1 Test Conditions
- Measurement mode: Reflection
- Wavelength range: 2.5–25 μm (4000–400 cm⁻¹)
- Sampling resolution: 4 cm⁻¹
- Number of scans: 16 times
- Sample requirements: dimensions greater than 25 mm × 25 mm.
2 Testing Process
1. Place the polished aluminum reflector in the sample port of the mirror‑reflection accessory to measure the background spectrum.
2. Place the glass sample to be measured in the sample port of the specular reflection accessory and measure its spectrum.
3. Use the Fourier‑transform infrared emissivity‑specific software to directly obtain the emissivity and heat transfer coefficient results.
6. Test Results
6.1 Emissivity Testing
The software can directly calculate the corrected emissivity of either surface of the glass in accordance with the GB/T 2680 and GB/T 22476 methods.
6.2 Heat Transfer Coefficient Calculation
Take a double-glazed, single‑cavity low‑e glass as an example. After directly opening the emissivity curves for all four surfaces of the two glass panes in the software, the corrected emissivity values were first calculated to be 0.841, 0.841, 0.139, and 0.841. Subsequently, using the method specified in GB/T 22476‑2008, the thermal transmittance was determined to be 1.851.
