Description
Product Introduction
This instrument is used to conduct shear tests on soil samples under varying normal stresses at a constant shear rate, measuring the shear stress at failure. Based on Coulomb’s law, it determines the soil’s shear strength, internal friction angle, and cohesion. The direct shear apparatus features stepless speed control, with the entire test process managed by a computer. During testing, data are acquired in real time, and curves depicting vertical stress–vertical displacement, shear stress–shear displacement, and vertical–shear displacement relationships are displayed dynamically. Test results can be exported in Excel file format.
Instrument Features
1. The normal force is applied using a rolling diaphragm pneumatic cylinder, with manual or automatic adjustment of the normal pressure. Manual pressure adjustment is achieved via a CKD precision pressure regulator, and the pressure display is also a CKD product; air pressure is increased or decreased to enable loading and unloading. Automatic adjustment of the normal pressure is implemented through an electro‑proportional valve, with software capable of controlling the desired loading and unloading of the normal force. The maximum normal load is 4.8 kN, with a control accuracy of ±1%.
2. Shear force is controlled via a servo system, enabling both strain‑controlled direct shear testing (with a rate range of 0.002–2.4 mm/min) and constant‑shear‑force control (for rheological tests). Shear force is measured using a dedicated sensor with an accuracy of ±1%. The drive motor can be either a stepper motor or a Mitsubishi servo motor, with motion transmitted through a ball screw.
3. The shear box is designed and manufactured in accordance with the requirements specified by the user.
4. Normal deformation, shear deformation, and shear force are all measured using sensors, with a measurement accuracy of ±1%. 5. The data acquisition software supports acquiring test data at specified shear‑deformation intervals or time intervals, includes sensor calibration functionality, provides real-time display of test data in graphical form, and enables motor speed control. Upon completion of the test, the data can be exported in Excel format.
