Description

Product Introduction:

The open‑type, single‑jaw caliper features an open‑frame design and a unidirectional jaw, specifically engineered to measure the outer diameter, thickness, and other dimensions of large, elongated workpieces. Its body is crafted from stainless steel, offering excellent rigidity, wear resistance, clear graduations, smooth sliding action, and stable measurements.

The open‑frame design facilitates cleaning and maintenance, making it well suited to harsh workshop environments. The single‑direction long jaws can reach deep into workpieces or measure at remote locations, addressing measurement scenarios that conventional calipers cannot access. Equipped with a locking mechanism, it allows readings to be secured for convenient re‑inspection and record‑keeping.

Product Applications:

It is widely used for large‑size, long‑distance, and deep‑dimensional measurements in industries such as machining, mold making, hardware, pipe manufacturing, and sheet metal fabrication.

The reading principle of a vernier caliper:

The reading mechanism of a vernier caliper consists of a main scale and a vernier scale. When the movable jaws are brought into contact with the fixed jaws, the “0” mark on the vernier scale aligns with the “0” mark on the main scale, at which point the distance between the jaws is zero. As the slide is moved to the left to a certain position, the distance between the fixed and movable jaws corresponds to the measured dimension of the part. The integer portion of the dimension can be read from the main‑scale markings to the right of the vernier’s zero line, while the fractional part—less than 1 mm—can be determined by reading the vernier scale.

How to read a vernier caliper:

The reading of a vernier caliper consists of the integer part in millimeters and the decimal fraction in millimeters. The method for taking the reading is as follows:

(1) Integer part: Starting from the first graduation line on the main scale to the left of the vernier zero mark, read the integer portion in millimeters.

(2) Decimal part: The decimal portion in millimeters is obtained by multiplying the number of scale divisions on the vernier scale that align with a particular division on the main scale by the instrument’s least count. If no vernier scale division exactly coincides with a main‑scale division, and the reading falls between two values—one larger and one smaller—take the average of the corresponding least‑count increments.

(3) Determine the measured value by addition: Add the integer part of the millimeter measurement to its decimal part; the result is the measured dimension of the workpiece.
