Product Introduction

The Stormer viscometer is a testing instrument used to determine the viscosity of paints and other coatings, with viscosity expressed in KU units. This instrument simultaneously displays the sample’s viscosity in KU units, grams (g), centipoise (cP), and ambient temperature. It is microcomputer‑controlled. The stirring paddle is driven by a special constant‑speed motor rotating at 200 r/min; the torque exerted on the paddle as it rotates within the sample is converted by the computer into a KU value—based on a logarithmic function that relates the load required to maintain a 200 r/min rotation speed to the Krebs unit (KU). This scale is commonly used to characterize the viscosity of paints intended for brushing or roller application. To operate, the user simply lowers the stirring paddle into the sample to the specified depth and can then directly read the corresponding KU value, as well as the viscosity in grams (g) and centipoise (cP), from the instrument.
