The QNQ-type falling-ball viscometer is suitable for measuring the viscosity of highly viscous, transparent coating products and is classified as a laboratory instrument. The viscosity it measures is a conditional viscosity, defined as the time, in seconds (s), required for a steel ball of specified dimensions to fall vertically through a glass tube containing the sample, between two marked lines, at a specified temperature.
