Product Introduction

This instrument is suitable for indentation testing of single‑layer or multi‑layer coatings, whether pigmented or clear. It is designed solely to measure the resistance of a surface to plastic deformation under pressure. When the instrument applies a specified load to the coating under controlled conditions, an indentation is formed; the indentation length is then used to express the results of the indentation resistance test as a function of its reciprocal. As the desired performance of the coating—namely, its resistance to indentation—improves, the measured indentation resistance value increases.

Applicable standards: GB/T 9725, ISO 1518, DIN 53153.

Technical Specifications:

1. The entire indentation apparatus weighs 1000 ± 5 g;

2. The effective load on the indentation tester is 500 ± 5 g.

3. Reading microscope:

a. Magnification: 20×;

b. The incident angle of the auxiliary light source is greater than 60°;

c. Reading accuracy: 0.1 mm.
