The paint washability tester is an instrument used to evaluate the wash resistance of coatings. It can also assess the performance of any surface that has undergone thin-film coating or composite treatment, such as painted, electroplated, primed, topcoated, or wood‑density surfaces. The device subjects the coating on a standard test panel to repeated scrubbing, with the number of cycles displayed directly on a counter. Based on the number of wash cycles required to achieve a specified level of wear, one can determine the significance and necessity of evaluating a coating’s wash resistance.
