Product Introduction

The water vapor transmission rate of exterior wall coatings can be determined using the following method: Fill a test cup with a measured volume of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate–saturated solution to rapidly raise the relative humidity of the air above the cup to 93%. Seal the test cup with a membrane‑type sample or with a porous substrate coated with the sample under test. Place the test cup in a controlled‑temperature, controlled‑relative‑humidity chamber to maintain a specified water vapor concentration gradient across the sample. Weigh the test cup at appropriate time intervals; when the change in mass is directly proportional to the time interval, the water vapor transmission rate can be calculated from the mass changes.
